Seid Hasanefendić was born in Brčko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1935.

His education began in Brčko and continued, from 1950, in Sarajevo. After completion of the sixth grade of Gymnasium, Seid started studying sculpture and then decorative painting at the School of Applied Arts. During that time he also worked as an illustrator, technical editor and designer of children and youth magazines.

In 1961, he was admitted to the Fine Arts Academy of the University of Zagreb, Croatia, Department of Graphic Arts. Hasanefendić graduated from in 1965, in the class of professor Kinert. During the same year, he became a member of the Artist's Association of Croatia (ULUH), in which he started with his artistic and exhibition activities.

In 1967/68 he worked for the “Interplet” textile industry in Brčko as fashion designer.

In 1969 he moved to Sarajevo, where he painted and exhibited intensively, while in the same time he worked in graphic, product and fashion designing.

In October 1974 he was appointed to the position of assistant professor for graphic art and artistic form at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Sarajevo. In 1983, he became the associate professor for drawing and graphic art, while in 1991 he became the full professor on the subject of drawing for the students of graphic art and product design. From 1985 to 1990 he was the Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. During his mandate he made significant efforts to establish strong links between the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Arts and the leading European fine art centers (Munich and Istanbul ).

From 1974 onwards, he had a range of exceptionally successful international solo exhibitions in France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Switzerland, Sweden and Qatar. During his Rome exhibition, one of his works was purchased for being part of the Vatican collection of modern art (Musei e Gallerie Pontifice Citta del Vaticano). He won scores of distinguished awards for his work in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. His works are part of numerous art collections, galleries and museums in the country and abroad.

He is currently the full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, where he lives and works.
